三元乙丙橡膠是乙烯、丙烯以及非共軛二烯烴的三（sān）元共聚物，1963年開始商業化生產。每（měi）年（nián）全（quán）世界的消費量是80萬噸。EPDM最主要的特性就是其優越的耐（nài）氧化、抗臭氧和抗侵蝕的能（néng）力。由於三元乙丙橡膠屬於聚烯烴家族，它具有極好的硫化特性。在所有橡膠當（dāng）中，EPDM具有最低的比重。它（tā）能吸收大量的填料和油而影響特性不大。因此可以製作成本低廉的橡膠化合物。

三元（yuán）乙丙是乙烯、丙烯和非共（gòng）軛二烯烴的三元共聚物。二烯（xī）烴具有特殊的結構，隻有兩鍵之一的才（cái）能共聚（jù），不（bú）飽和的雙鍵主要是（shì）作為交鏈處。另一個不飽和的不（bú）會成為聚合物主鏈，隻會成為邊側鏈。三元乙（yǐ）丙的主要（yào）聚合物鏈是完全飽和的。這個（gè）特性使得三元乙（yǐ）丙可以抵抗熱（rè），光，氧氣，尤其是臭氧。三元乙丙本質上是無極性的，對極性溶液和化學物具有抗性，吸水（shuǐ）率低，具有良好的絕緣特（tè）性。

在三（sān）元乙丙生產過程中，通過（guò）改變三單體的數（shù）量，乙烯丙烯（xī）比，分（fèn）子量及其分布以及（jí）硫化的方（fāng）法可以調整其特性。

EPDM is a terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and non-conjugated diolefins that began commercial production in 1963.It is consumed worldwide at 800,000 tons per year.The most important characteristic of EPDM is its superior resistance to oxidation, ozone and erosion.Since EPDM rubber belongs to the polyolefin family, it has excellent vulcanization properties.EPDM has the lowest specific gravity of all rubbers. It can absorb a large amount of filler and oil without affecting the characteristics much. As a result, low-cost rubber compounds can be made.

EPDM is a terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and non-conjugated diolefins.Diolefins have a special structure, only one of the two bonds can be copolymerized, and the unsaturated double bond is mainly used as a cross-chain. The other unsaturated one will not become the polymer backbone, but only the side chain.The main polymer chains of EPDM are fully saturated. This property makes EPDM resistant to heat, light, oxygen and especially ozone.EPDM is essentially non-polar, resistant to polar solutions and chemicals, has low water absorption, and has good insulating properties.

In the EPDM production process, its characteristics can be adjusted by varying the number of trimers, ethylene-propylene ratio, molecular weight and its distribution, and the method of vulcanization.
